Tonight was pretty good. We got out for a family dinner (minus Will). When Kim got back we got to give Will a bottle. This was a big advancement for him. He's never taken food by mouth. For a moment, life seemed a little more normal. We're hoping that we'll be able to start breastfeeding soon. Maybe as soon at tomorrow morning. These are all just little steps toward getting home. Will's respiratory rate has come down. I can't tell you how many hours have been spent staring at this monitor waiting for the bottom number to get below 70.The doctor told me that it appears that we're on the backside of the respiratory issue. This is great great great news. But the mantra continues to be slow and steady. We can't rush him. He'll make the next step when he's ready and I'll continue to learn how to be humble and patient. It's almost like Will is trying to teach me to slow down.I'll finish this update with one of my favorite pictures of this whole process.TRON: The Legacy Begins
This was part of the light treatment Will received. It's a bed of fiber optic cables. It glows a brilliant blue and I just thought it looked cool. It gives him the same light therapy the overhead lamp does but without the heat so that his backside gets light without burning his rump. No one likes that kind of rump roast. This is going to be an awesome picture to pull out on Prom night or at his Rehearsal Dinner.
